Q:
Who
designs your furniture?
A: Richard D. Walker
Q: What
is Richard's background in furniture making?
A: Richard
was born in NYC and attended the U.S. Naval Construction School in
California, graduating in the top 10 in his class. He also
attended the Millworking and Woodworking School at the U.S. Naval
Construction Training Center in Gulfport, Mississippi. His
travels to Spain, England, North Africa, China and South America
have influenced his approach to furniture design and function.
In 1993 he was drawn to the beauty of the Black Hills in South
Dakota where his studio is presently located. Exhibiting
throughout the mid west, he
continues to craft fine furniture with an artistic value and quality
that make his pieces heirloom quality.
Q:
Why are
the items shown not available?
A: The furniture
shown online are commissioned pieces. Commission work is one of a kind and
cannot be replicated. There are, however, several design lines that
we exhibit at one of the fine art shows throughout the mid west.
These are studio handcrafted, one at a time, and not mass-produced in large
production runs. While this
may result in an item not being available at any given time, it insures you that each piece will get all our attention at time of
construction. It also allows
us to use alternative designs styles with a great amount of creative
flexibility if you chose to have us modify the design in some way.
Q:
When can I expect an item to be
available?
A: If you like to receive an item within a specific time frame you can contact
us and we値l be happy to answer that
question. Please include item
description and quantity desired.
Q:
Where is your
studio located?
A: In the Black Hills, South Dakota.

Information
We
deliver our own work if you are located in the state of South
Dakota. Charges for this vary with distance and job size. If you live further away... We are located not far from the
geographical center of the U.S.
As a result shipping costs
are about equal in any direction. This
averages out to about $450 for a typical size dresser or armoire, which
includes a custom shipping container.]
In any case we will be happy to provide a shipping quote before you make a
purchase.
.
We
ship only to the lower
contiguous 48
states using a carrier of our choice. Packages in excess of 150 lbs are usually shipped Freight
Truck. Most of the items we offer fall into this category.
All
shipments are sent with signature required. The delivery will
be made with one driver and the trailer will not have a lift-gate.
The customer must have someone on hand at delivery to provide assistance
to the driver during unloading. It is the customer's responsibility
to take the furniture inside the home.
After unloading and before
the driver leaves, the customer should inspect the furniture for
damage. Product damage is rare, however, if damage is found the
customer should note the damage in the appropriate box on the Delivery
Receipt (provided by the driver) and then sign. Contact the shipping
company immediately and a clam will be filed. (Note" If there are
any tears, indentations, or holes on the exterior of the package, but no
damage is found, the customer should still note on the Delivery Receipt
that the packaging contained holes and/or tears.)
